Minecraft is one of the most selling video games of all time. Originally, an indie game by the owner “Notch” before it was sold to Microsoft for 2.5 billion dollars. This sale was due to threats that he was receiving, and the amount of people relying on him to constantly update the game. He parted ways with this project to avoid these issues. Jeb, one of the other original developers, still works with the company today. Helping push out updates that are still in the light of one of the original developers of the game. Even helping create easter eggs related to developer’s names like “dinnerbone” and “jeb_”
Minecraft is an open world sandbox game; in it you can create nearly anything you can think of. This philosophy is the main reason the game is still so big today. Servers such as Hypixel and Mineplex being the largest. Theses servers offered different “minigames” to play, such as skywars, bedwars and UHC As the modding and building community is constantly pushing the game to its limits. Even older, outdated versions of the game still have a smaller but dedicated player base. 1.7.10, 1.12.2 used to be the biggest versions for modding, but as time went on, these versions and the mods on them have had rapidly declining updates, as people have decided to move to later versions, and simply recreate the mods.
